While the cause of Fibromyalgia is unknown there are several hypotheses regarding the cause or causes.
It appears that genetics may play a role in the development of Fibromyalgia as there seems to be occurrences within the same family. It appears that the predisposition is not specific to Fibromyalgia but to it’s associated disorders as well, chronic fatigue and depression are examples.
Stress may be a very important factor in the development of Fibromyalgia as well. It seems that exposure to stress alters the chemistry in the brain and that incorrect balance may lead to the development of Fibromyalgia and its related disorders.
There is also evidence that it may be influenced by a lack of Human Growth Hormone however test in HGH therapy have not shown the results required to cement a link between the two.
The causes of Fibromyalgia are uncertain and appear to be many and varied, causing diagnosis to muddied. There is no base-line test that indicates a positive or negative diagnosis due to the large and varied number of symptoms that may occur. This leaves treatments as varied as the symptoms.
Most treatments are put together in an effort to treat the symptoms. New understanding of Fibromaylgia has led to improvements in treatments which include prescription medication, exercise, education and a variety of natural cures.
